Milton Busker is an indie Americana singer-songwriter based in Essex, Vermont, best known as the frontman and primary songwriter for the Burlington-area band Milton Busker & The Grim Work. Self-described as the "world's foremost purveyor of suit-folk", his music blends elements of Americana, alt-country, folk, and jazz, coupled with a distinctively expressive, measured vocal delivery and witty, self-deprecating lyricism. Admission is by Donation Milton Busker & The Grim Work In 2014, Busker ran into his old friend and guitarist David Ball at a local Vermont farmer's market, prompting them to form a new project. They recruited mandolin player Jom Hammack and later completed the lineup with bassist John Treybal and drummer Dave Simpson. The band describes their trademark "suit-folk" sound as "the people's music, all dolled up for a night on the town, or an Appalachian ditty played by Cole Porter’s poker friends"—a style often contrasted by Busker performing in a suit, tie, and shamefully inappropriate footwear.
