THE SYSTEM
Amplification
Our amplification chain blends iconic vintage design with modern accuracy:
• McIntosh MC7106 Power Amplifier
A classic multi-channel powerhouse delivering clean, effortless analog warmth. McIntosh amps aren’t subtle; they’re built to make music feel weighty, smooth, and larger than life.
• McIntosh C-Series Preamp
This handles the front end with that unmistakable McIntosh refinement. Low distortion, gorgeous tone, and a noise floor so low it’s practically meditating.
Neutral, reliable, and rock-solid for managing the system without adding coloration.
Together, this chain gives the room both texture and authority.
Speakers: Snell Type A3 Towers
These are the heart of the room. Snell Type A3 speakers are legends in New England hi-fi:
• full-range floorstanders
• natural, lifelike mids
• smooth, non-fatiguing highs
• bass that feels controlled instead of bloated
They throw a huge, cinematic soundstage. Close your eyes during the right track and instruments feel like they’re placed in the room, not in the speakers.
Sub-Bass System
Low end is reinforced by B&W ASW-series subs, calibrated to stay musical—not boomy.
They’re tuned to extend the Snells instead of dominating them, giving kick drums punch and bass guitars body while keeping the mix tight and clean.
You feel the bass without it interfering with conversation or shaking ice out of glasses.
Digital Source & Signal Path
The digital chain is built for clarity:
• High-resolution audio source
• Feeding an FiiO K11 DAC
• Into the McIntosh preamp
• Into the McIntosh MC7106 6 channel amp bridged to 3-channels
• Out to the Snell towers and B&W sub
